Mum remanded on attempted murder charge

A BUSINESS development manager from Margate has been committed to Canterbury Crown Court charged with the attempted murder of her boyfriend.

Maria (also known as Marcia) Francis, 42, of Ethelbert Terrace, is accused of stabbing 32-year-old chef Pasquale Mustoe last Sunday.

Police were called at 4.15pm on Sunday to reports that a man from Westgate had been seriously assaulted.

Mr Mustoe was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate and was described as in a serious, life-threatening condition at the hospital.

His condition remains critical.

Mother-of-four Ms Francis, who works for a fencing company, was charged with the offence shortly before midnight on Monday night.

The grandmother of one was accompanied to Canterbury Magistrates Court on Tuesday by her 22 year old daughter and her father.

Ms Francis, who appeared tearful in the dock wearing jeans and blue top, was remanded in custody until October 21 when she will appear at Canterbury Crown Court.
